Getting close

Even if they don't help the girls still like to come over and play. Hey they're kids what do you expect????

Nearing the end of the day we had almost 10 feet of wall up all the way around. We we're missing the 1 foot high corner blocks. Hopefully they show up tonight then I could have the garage all done and only have to consentrate on the house.

Here I am putting the ten foot high course on. This weekend we we're able to get all the inside bracing put up so I can walk all the way around and set blocks. I have to say that if it wasn't for Doug, Dan and my dad I would still be there putting up bracing and only working on the 6 foot course of block. Thanks guys!

I can't wait until I can sit in my basement and enjoy this view of the lake.

Less than a year away!!!!!!!!!

Productive weekend

We were able to get almost half of the basement blocks set into place. Looking at the bottom (darker) picture, The room furthest away is the lower garage. We have 3 courses of block(6ft) there and the rest of the basement has 2 courses(4 ft). My next step is to cut in the window that I forgot about and finish getting the rest of the basement to 3 courses of block. Then we can put up the wall bracing and finish going up another 2 1/2 course (5 ft). Yes, the basement will have 11 foot walls. I was happy with 10 foot walls but it made more sense to go up 1 more foot to get the main floor closer to road level so hopefully we won't have any problems with a wet basement.

More to come......

Excavators are back at it...

They came back and started to do some backfilling. At the same time they are pumping out the tanks for the sewer and inspecting them. If the tanks are OK then they are going to pull them out and reposition them in the yard. I'm hoping that they will finish up today so I can start building up the basement walls and possibly pour those end of next week. I can only hope it will go that smooth.

First day of school

Well the first day of school came and went with a few tears. Lydia started a new school. She started going to Scandia Elementary which is where she will continue to go once the house is done. It was hard to get anything out of her but we are pretty sure she is going to enjoy herself there and meet lots of new friends.

Ava looks forward to walking (or riding in the wagon) up to the bustop to see Lydia at the end of the day. I think she feels lost without Lydia in the car when Rachel picks her up from daycare.

We were able to pour the concrete (finally) on Friday. We got the four foot walls and posts for the deck poured. Our next step is getting the excavator out to back fill around the deck posts and inside the house. Once we get this done we will start on the 11 foot basement walls.
