Railing and More Staining

We had the cabinet installer also install our railing. It looks so nice and makes me feel a lot safer. I was always worrying that someone would fall off the edge...but nobody did.

A look from the top.

Another view...

Renee is still staining and finishing doors and trim. She's still smiling!

Chad made the trim and put it up around the kitchen window. The trim for the main floor is from the trees we took down on the lot a few years ago. This is definately Chad's baby. It does look really nice!

Fun Times!

We celebrated Dan's 30th Birthday at the Shafer Saloon.
Ellie was so excited to see her daddy.

Rachel & Jacquie...aren't we cute!!!

My mom and the girls are hiding in the closet.

Cabinets and Countertops

This is the kitchen with the cabinets and countertops. The sink is now cut in and the countertops are now finished, but I have not been home to take new pics. I'll get some this weekend. The dishwasher and microwave should be in soon as well as the garbage disposal.
This is my favorite room in the house so far!
This is the linen cabinet for the master bath.

Staining and Sealing the Wood

Renee has been working very hard on finishing the railing/spindles for the staircase. She has sanded and re-sanded...wiped down...stained...put on the clear coats...on every spindle, post and railing. She finished that job and has gone on to the doors and the door trim. Thank you!

I don't have the pictures downloaded yet, but the cabinets are done and the counter top should be on early this week. My dad, (& I think Roger too), have been putting the doors in and other odd things. Chad has been installing the last of the outlets, switches, lights, ceiling fans...The never ending project.

Cabinets are here!!!

Yesterday the cabinet company came in and started installing the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom vanities. Everything looks perfect. Even the color matches the stain on the windows. I believe the installers should be back today to finish the kitchen and continue on to the bathrooms. After Rachel took these pictures I installed the sweeper thing for the central vac in the toe kick of the island.

Putting the finish on the floor

Real quick not, I was able to get two coats of finish on the wood floor.

More Flooring Pictures

This is a view of our back entry way looking into our half bath. Chad's dad did this ceramic too.
Nothings grouted yet.

More of the back entry way.

I think this is a picture of the same ceramic but in one of the pantries in the back entryway.

Here's the ceramic in our bathroom. Yes, the floor is heated!

The ceramic around our shower. Roger is finding that not everything is square...Who will notice?

Flooring!

The girls' bathroom floor. Some people thing this ceramic is from the 70's, but I think it's cool.
It's also great for hiding dirt!
Another shot of the girls' bathroom floor. Roger still has some work to do and I need to get the tile for their wall around the tub.

Roger and Chad are installing the wood floor. We picked out the hickory.

It's getting there!
All the wood flooring is in! Roger worked night and day so Chad could sand today. As of 7:00 tonight, Chad has one coat on clear coat on the floor. He sent me a picture on my phone...it looks so beautious!!!!! He's thinking he'll go back in a couple of hours and do a second coat and do another one tomorrow. No ones allowed in the house for a couple of days...that means YOU!

More Painting and House Pictures

The living room is painted. A cool view of the lake out of the living room window.

Our cars are dreaming of this garage. It's big enough for both cars and lots of space between and in front. It won't be long cars!

Thanks Jacquie!

Dad and Dan are finally finished with painting.

Jacquie's getting ready to go after a long weekend of painting.

Lavendar Rooms

Renee was painting the girls' rooms and the girls wanted to help paint for a little while. They both wanted the same color for their bedrooms...some sort of light lavendar.

Here's a picture in Ava's room of the color.

Ava's doing a great job! She even helped in the laundry room later.

Lydia was a pro at this!

Kid Pictures...skating

Ava was all padded up and trying out her new skates in the basement of the new house. It's the perfect basement for their skates and scooters.

The girls taking a peek at what Grandma Nee had done at the house.

Lydia is taking a break from her skating.

The Official Painting Party of 2008

Many people came to help us put some primer and color on the walls of the house.
We couldn't have done it without all of you!

Eric just loves helping Chad with the house.

Dan is a painting machine!

Jacquie paints with style.
Grandpa Jim spent the entire weekend at the house. He is a very serious painter!

Renee was doing lots of trimming. She's very patient and good with details.

Christmas

The girls both got inline skates for Christmas. They were trying out their skills in the kitchen. This won't be happening in the kitchen at the new house!

The fabulous four at my parents Christmas morning.

Ava woke up Christmas morning with a pretty high fever. She opened most of her presents laying on the couch. This is how she spent the next few days.

Lydia was waiting patiently while mom snaps pictures, gets coffee, and tends to sick Ava. I think it was worth the wait.
